Week iii

Computer Software

The first session was mostly focused on Software Layers: Operating Systems, Drivers, System software, Application programs.
First we were tough what is software and categories of software. There we learnt 4 main topics

1. Application program
2. Operating system
3. Device drivers
4. System software

Application software 

Application software is a kind of software which we can use for different tasks with using it . For instant Microsoft Power Point 2010 allows user to make slide show presentation and Internet Download Manager which can help user to download more faster.

System software 

System software is a software which allow user to control and manage the computer system . It is necessary  for all computer since computer will not able to use without system software.

Type of system software

• Operating system ( eg. Window 7 , Ubuntu Linux , Mac Leo )
• Utility program ( eg. CMOS , Firewall )

Programming software

Programming software is also kind of software . This kind of software is only used by programmer and software engineer. These software are only for writing and compiling software coding . there are many programming software such as  C++ , Java , VB.NET.

After that we learnt further about above topics and also about Operating system functions, User-interface, Types of operating systems, Utility programs and  Protecting our computer.

It was very thrilled to learn about those kinds of topics. Before I didn't have a good knowledge on those topics but after I was tough I got a vast knowledge.

Week 3 session 2                                                                                     

The second session was based on Programming Languages: Machine Assembly, High-Level Language, Firstly we learnt what programming language is and what the benefits are. We learnt two main kinds of Languages,

1.Low-Level
2.High-Level

In low level language there are two main parts, they are Machine Language and Assembly language.
After that we learnt about the evolution of the higher level languages. There are three generations
Third generation, Fourth generation and the Fifth generation.

Week 3 Session 3

Standard Software Packages : Overview & typical installation procedures.
  
In this topic it wasn't interesting, there we learnt about the Application software. It was a further teaching about software. We learnt about Business application software as well as about the Graphics and Multimedia software. Through this lesson I learnt how to install, update, Buy, how to get license, removing software, system backup, re-store and lot of extra things on software.
